Aphelandra squarrosa, Zebra plant
This tropical house plant has been a favorite for decades because of the great foliage, but is can also be used as a perennial shrub in a tropical climate. The broad pointed shiny green leaves are heavily striped in white along the veins giving it the common name zebra plant. Once mature it produces a yellow inflorescence which looks like an upright shrimp. Can grow to 5' around, best in part shade, likes a light airy soil with good drainage. Indoor bright light, evenly moist with high humidity.
