 Caesalpinia pulcherrima 'Yellow'

An incredibly drought tolerant shrub from the Mexican desert. The more heat and sun the better. The shrub has an open airy feel, the ends of the branches are topped with all bright yellow flowers, the regular species has orange flowers. Very showy.  Briefly dormant in areas with cold winters, evergreen in the tropics. Tolerates only the lightest of frosts. It can grow to 10' and has thorns on stems, it can be pruned back to keep more compact. Also know as Caesalpinia pulcherrima flava. (The species C. gilliesii also has yellow flowers, but has red stamens)
