Codiaeum 'Banana' (may not be true to name)
Evergreen shrubs from Malaysia, with colorful large waxy foliage. Needs fairly tropical conditions to do well. Popular in Hawaii and Florida, but they also seem to do well in some warm microclimates in California. Bright light and high humidity, can grow to 6' tall or more. Best with rich soil and water. Foliage is 1" wide and 6" wide long with a bold yellow midrib and golden variegation bleeding out to the rest of the leaf. A very showy compact plant, very good for low maintenance in the landscape, as well a a good pick for containers. This was sold to us as 'Banana', but has a more pointed tip than others identified elsewhere, otherwise it looks very similar.
