Dahlia imperialis

Guatemalan Tree Dahlia

A giant form of a common popular perennial. A winter-spring blooming species that can grow to 10’ or more. Simple clusters of single lavender flowers top the upright bamboo like stems starting around Christmas. Full sun, a wind protected spot, regularly clean old dead lower leaves. Can be pruned back often in the summer to make it more compact. Grows well in California.
