Purple Metallic Plant
This is an amazingly colorful foliage plant from Malaysia. This selection grows low to the ground, about 10" and often used as a ground cover in the tropics. The broad foliage is purple with a lighter flush on the leaf surface. Small white flowers on and off all year. Roots as it grows. Full sun or part shade. If grown in the shade it casts a silvery glow. Works great as a filler in containers. This may be the best ground cover in my garden, its aggressive enough to choke up the weeds, but not so aggressive that it's hard to control. I think this plant should be used way more widely than it is everywhere, even as an annual in cold climates. Especially with colorful foliage being so hot right now. Possibly H alternata.
