Pink Trumpet Tree

A 30’ tall deciduous tree from South America with an open ‘V’ structure. In the spring clusters of pink trumpets appear during it’s brief dormancy. It's very drought tolerant once it's established, and in fact blooms better in years with a drier winter. May takes several years to reach the size at which it will begin to bloom well. The pink flowers have a light yellow center and are borne in clusters. Needs very little pruning. A great medium sized tree for the residential landscape. I usually water and feed young trees to encourage faster growth, and then once the tree had reached a substantial size I cut back on the water and feedings to encourage better bloom. Syn. Handroanthus ipe
