We grow the best new plants, as well as the tried and true from the past. Many of our plants are rare or unusual, but may just be good plants that work. We grow and sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vines, orchids, bromeliads, grasses and epiphytes.

We are located at 200' above sea level on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii, a tropical rainforest. We are at the drier part of the wet side, near the ocean, but we still get about 90" of rain a year. It is still surprising the diversity of plants we are able to grow here. After moving here in 2009 we imported almost 1,000 plants from our nursery in Southern California. We chose the ones we thought would adapt best in our new climate. While a few succumbed, most have thrived in their new home. I think it's because it's not too hot or cold, very mild with very few stresses.

So many nurseries are only about new introductions, discarding last year's new plants, never to be seen again. We like the focus the plants that perform in the garden, whether they are new hybrids or have been around over a century. The criterion we use: Are these good plants?

Not all the plants on this list are available all the time, but if you see something you like and want us to grow it for you, just let us know, and we will see what we can do. For a list of what is available please go to the store.
