Areca catechu var. alba

Yellow Crownshaft Betel Nut Palm

A tropical solitary palm that typically reaches up to about 20 feet in height. It displays a slender, graceful trunk and feather-type fronds that emerge in clusters of roughly 10, together forming an attractive, pronounced crownshaft. This particular variety is notable for its pale yellow crownshaft and warm golden-yellow seeds, giving the entire palm a soft, sunlit appearance. The crown can span as much as 8 feet across, with the leaf rachis often arching and curling downward in an elegant manner. Compared with the typical species, this cultivar is somewhat more sensitive to direct, intense sunlight. It performs best in tropical settings with well-drained, fertile soils and steady moisture to support healthy, vigorous growth.
