Neoregelia ampullacea ‘Zebrina’

A compact stoloniferous form of bromeliad with maroon bands that give the plant a dark cast overall. Can be grown epiphytically in trees or in containers with very good drainage, usually using bark or cinder instead of potting soil. Flowers are formed in the central cup which hold water, but are not particularly showy.  Old plants can cascade down several feet if hanging, also good as a groundcover.
