Variegated Trailing Gardenia

A low growing gardenia with small double white flowers. This selection has beautiful strongly variegated leaves, which are small and closely packed together. It may even make a good tropical bonsai. It definitely makes a good ground cover or spiller plant for a pot in a sunny location. Loves heat, best in rich soil, acidic and regular fertilizer, these guys are real pigs. Very nicely fragrant. Will take some cold weather, but not a hard freeze. They do well across the south, and even in California if the soil is acid enough, the addition of lots of peat moss, compost,  and even the addition of soil sulfur can help. We have a pH of 5.5 - 6 here in Hawaii, and my gardenias have never looked better. As a house plant, give very bright light and keep the humidity high.
