Gardenia tubifera ‘Kula’

A rare very tropical gardenia with an atypical single golden yellow flower. This one needs temperatures above 50 degrees F. and perfect drainage. Loves heat, best in the sun with high humidity. Grows into a small shrub about 5' tall, but can grow to 10' or more with age. For a tropical climate it maybe of of the best looking shrub we can grow. The shiny dark green leaves contrast great with the deep golden flowers that fill the air with its fragrant perfume. I've tried this in Southern California, but with no luck, too cold at night, but maybe in a good micro-climate or in a greenhouse. They do grow well in Southern Florida.
