Dichorisandra thyrsiflora
Blue Ginger
A tropical upright blue flowering perennial called a ginger, but is really related to Wandering Jew (Tradescantia). Grows upright to 5’ or so with shiny foliage usually in the late summer and in the fall, or whenever there is enough heat build up. The 4” upright spikes are a true blue. Needs part shade. Likes well amended soil, somewhat frost sensitive, but does usually come back from the root after a light freeze. Looks really good with white variegated plants. Does great in Hawaii, frost free coastal California & Florida
