A selection of a tropical hibiscus popular among ancient Polynesians. Grown for it’s beautiful purple foliage. It flowers rarely outside the tropics with small yellow flowers that turn apricot by the end of the day. Grows up to 12' tall, best in full sun, can tolerate salt spray. Common to see at the beach in Hawaii. Leaf color fades as they age. More frost sensitive than the common Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. Syn. Talipariti tiliaceum
