Bulbophyllum orectopetalum — a tropical Asian orchid characterized by broad, leathery leaves roughly 7 inches long and about 2 inches wide, with a modest pseudo-bulb at the base. This species prefers consistent moisture and is most often cultivated in bark or mounted on a tree to better replicate its native growing conditions. In Hawaii’s favorable climate, this orchid can bloom up to three times per year, producing delicate 2-inch flowers in a soft yellow-cream hue, each blossom marked with distinctive striped patterns.
