Goldstar Polytail Palm, Variegated Polytail Palm

The straight green species of this Mexican palm-like plant is commonly grown as a houseplant but can also be occasionally seen as a landscape plant in frost-free areas. In Southern California, it can grow up to 15 feet tall or even taller under ideal conditions. It serves as an excellent single specimen focal point, thriving well when planted directly in the ground, yet it can also be kept successfully in a pot indefinitely. It also looks amazing when planted in groves. This particular selection features striking bold cream-yellow stripes on its leaves. While the species typically develops a large, swollen base over time, this specific variety appears to maintain a smaller, more compact base. Full sun with excellent drainage, regular feeding produces the healthiest plant.
