Browneopsis ucayalina

Spotted Brownea

A small understory tree native to Ecuador, growing up to about 15 feet tall. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers acidic, moist soil for optimal growth. The tree produces clusters of white flowers approximately 5 inches wide that bloom from the trunk. Its new growth starts out limp and light green, adorned with striking burgundy spots before maturing into solid green leaves. These trees can experience several flushes of new growth throughout the year. They require consistently tropical conditions and should never be allowed to dry out.
