Clusia lanceolata

Red-Heart Porcelain Flower, Lance-leaf Autograph Tree

Brazil and Venezuela are the native regions of this plant, which features 1½ inch white flowers with a striking dark red center, accompanied by 3 inch narrow, leathery leaves. This shrub or small tree can grow up to 10 feet high, making it a versatile addition to many landscapes. It begins blooming at a young age and continues to produce flowers for most of the year. The plant thrives in full sun to light shade and is tolerant of challenging tropical seacoast conditions, including wind, drought, and salt air. However, it is frost tender and does not tolerate temperatures below 40°F. Well adapted to subtropical and tropical gardens, it is also suitable for growing in pots. It belongs to the Clusiaceae family.
