Plumeria rubra 'Dean Conklin'

A salmon orange colored Plumeria with a large, moderate orange center, and a lovely reddish margin, this beautiful flower showcases a delicate light pink tip that adds a subtle yet captivating charm. A moderate red outer band gracefully decorates its back, further enhancing its overall visual appeal. The petals are wide and long, somewhat elliptical in shape, and culminate in a gently rounded tip, featuring a delightful twister effect with slightly overlapping edges that create an intriguing texture. The petal surface is medium in texture, and each blossom measures approximately 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inches in diameter, exuding a faint, spicy scent that is reminiscent of carnation. These tropical succulent plants thrive best in bright sunlight and warm temperatures, benefiting greatly from regular feeding and care during the active growing season in the summer months. When winter arrives, it is essential to keep them drier as they enter their dormant phase to ensure their health and longevity. This variety was released in 1977 to coincide with the dedication of the Dean Conklin Plumeria Grove at Koko Crater Botanic Garden, marking an important milestone in Plumeria cultivation.
