This selection is a compact shrub growing up to 5 feet tall, characterized by its large, glossy leaves and flowers arranged in blousy clusters. The blooms are cream-colored with a subtle light yellow center and a delicate pink blush, offering a soft and attractive appearance. This hybrid is R. leucogigas x (konori x laetum). These unique shrubs come from cloud forests. Providing bright light is absolutely essential, as it encourages healthy foliage development and results in vivid, long-lasting blooms that enhance the plant’s ornamental appeal. Conversely, in drier or hotter climates, it is advisable to plant them in a location offering part shade to reduce stress from intense direct sunlight, allowing the plants to thrive more comfortably without burning. These shrubs require impeccable drainage to prevent problems such as root rot, flourishing best when grown in well-aerated substrates like bark or clean cinder, which closely mimic their natural growing conditions. Due to their sensitivity to cold temperatures, they cannot tolerate frost and need protective measures during colder periods, such as mulching or moving potted specimens indoors, to ensure survival through winter. To maintain steady nourishment and support vigorous growth, applying a slow-release fertilizer is recommended, providing continuous feeding over time without overwhelming the plant. When planting these shrubs directly in the ground, it is important to position the crown well above soil level, facilitating optimal drainage and closely replicating the natural growing conditions of an orchid. Additionally, using good quality, low-mineral water is crucial to avoid salt buildup in the soil and promote overall plant health, helping them thrive in cultivation.
