 Pink and White Powderpuff

A South American evergreen large shrub or small tree, potentially to 20’ tall or more with time. In frost free areas, it is an ideal specimen for  year round bloom. The powder puff like blooms are pink tipped and white toward the center on an open vase shaded plant. Exceptional, best in sun, regular water. The selection has been popular in California since the 1930s. This selection, named after well known San Diego landscaper Sinjen, has good cold tolerance, a better upright habit. It's from Suriname. Probably my favorite tree for residential landscaping. Ideal, because it blooms year round, doesn't get too big, easy to grow and maintain, draws hummingbirds. Probably not more popular because it doesn't bloom in small containers.
