Compact Red Powderpuff

Evergreen shrubs from South America to 6’. Red 1.5” puff balls are produced all year in the tropics. The bipinnate foliage folds up at night. Will tolerate only a very light frost. Grows relatively quickly, best in sun, any soil. It is smaller in scale, with a neater habit than Calliandra inaequilatera. Prunes really well, and therefore can fit in smaller locations. May be more cold sensitive, would be interested in getting feedback on its cold hardiness. Also really good in containers, and a possible good pick for bonsai. Draws hummingbirds.
