Evergreen shrubs from Malaysia, with colorful large waxy foliage. Needs fairly tropical conditions to do well. Popular in Hawaii and Florida, but they also seem to do well in some warm microclimates in California. Bright light and high humidity, can grow to 4' tall or more. Best with rich soil and water. Foliage is 1/2" wide and 5" wide long with a bold yellow variegation on the outer edge, deep green base color. The foliage has a twist which creates great texture. A very showy compact plant, very good for low maintenance in the landscape, as well a a good pick for containers.
